Holiday Gift Ideas for 2007:

    2007 CRS Rose Calendar (still available from President Marci)
    Weekend of Convention Fun at the District Convention planned and organized by the Connecticut Rose Society. This year it will be held in beautiful Mystic, CT at the Mystic Hilton. You will all receive a mailing in December with all the details, and they will be published in the Yankee District Newsletter about the end of the year. Dates 14-16 March 2008. Plan the weekend and give as a gift.  Even more fun if you get a group to attend as well.

    Gift certificate for roses from your local garden store
    Really nice bypass pruners or loppers if not already owned (e.g. Felco, Fiskars...)
    Thin, but tough, rose garden gloves to avoid prickle injuries (available online or at White Flower Farm near Litchfield, Holdridge Garden Center, Ledyard...).
    A good rose book.  See the link section of www.ctrose.org for brief descriptions of some recent ones.  Coming soon: "Modern Roses".
        A particularly well written and thorough book is "Showing Good Roses" by Robert Martin, Jr. which covers much more than exhibiting. Contact the Webmaster for link to purchase.
    Rose photo graphic art (e.g. John Mattia's prints available from www.Rosemania.com).
    A vase of fresh roses for the home
    Dried roses (or synthetic) for decorating the tree
      Rose Scarf
    A subscription to one of the specialty newsletters related to the ARS.  Examples: Mini/Mini-Flora Rose Bulletin, Rose Exhibitor's Forum...
    Authorization for your spouse to remove/ have removed several large trees that over the years have grown big and full- but now shade the rose garden
    A deer fence
    An antique book related to roses- call Dave Candler for one
    A new camera for Rose Photography!
        A bigger memory card for that camera
    Several New and Exciting Roses !!!
    Garden Log book to record information and observations in the garden
    Rose socks for wearing to rose events.
    A tackle box (or similar) for organizing/keeping rose show equipment
